Employees have complained about “strokes, allergies, rashes.” In the last two years, three employees have had to be carried off by ambulance to the hospital.

Attic Ventilation Tips

While the more attic ventilation the better, more vents can upset the delicate balance here. I heard of one story where a homeowner tried to increase their ventilation rate by installing two different kinds of outlet vents. This resulted in transforming the weaker outlet vent into an inlet vent. Air simply short circuited between the vents, preventing soffits from drawing in air flow.

Oak Ridge Elementary Finally Reopens After Exhaustive IAQ Battle

Someone could make a documentary about this story, but to sum things up – students and teachers at the school were becoming sick, fingers were pointed at mold and moisture issues, the school spent thousands on testing but could not find a definitive link to mold, eventually the school was shut down. After so many months having to split students among nearby schools, parents were eager to finally send their kids back to Oak Ridge.

Think of condensation forming on the outside of a glass of cold water. The water vapor in the air touches the glass and cools to become a liquid state. Why Schools?
