Mold Whistleblower Provisions

The OSH Act of 1970 promotes healthful working conditions by enforcing standards and providing lawful protection to employees who report unhealthy workplaces. Section 11© of the Act prohibits any person from “discharging or in any manner retaliating against any employee because the employee has exercised rights under the Act.”

Mold Allies with Illegal Narcotics

The vault contains an endless supply of marijuana, cocaine, and prescription drugs seized by Louisville police. For this reason, the facility is extremely secure. I wonder if making the vault so physically secure contributed to the mold problem by now allowing proper ventilation. An updated ventilation for the vault is being considered to improve indoor air quality.

Are You Still Fighting Mold with Bleach?

Don’t use bleach to kill mold! But you don’t have to take our word for it. The EPA now says “the use of a chemical biocide that kills organisms such as mold (chlorine bleach for example) is not recommended as a routine practice during mold remediation.” Additionally, OSHA’s Mold Remediation/ Clean Up Methods guidelines also discourage the use of chlorine bleach as a mold remediation tool.
