Children whose parents reported any mold or water damage in the home at the beginning of the study were 55% more likely to develop allergic rhinitis, as diagnosed by their doctors.
The rooms are apparently in an older section of the hospital and covered with a kind of wallpaper that can trap moisture and condensation. This wallpaper was a construction standard in the 1990s but has proved to be a sponge for water and thus cause mold. It is likely that some water intruded through the windows in these rooms and was absorbed into the wallpaper. After the drywall is replaced, the hospital plans to paint instead of use wallpaper as it does in newer sections of the hospital. It seems the hospital will simply remove the moldy material rather than seek assistance from a commercial mold remediator.
. In fact, it is more likely that your child will attend a moldy school than live in a moldy home. Our nation’s public school systems have a serious indoor air quality problem that is affecting 20% of all schools at least. Keep in mind, that mold affects people differently so some children will probably not exhibit the same symptoms.
In a breakthrough medical analysis, Marinkovich outlined the symptoms that hypersensitive individuals experience when exposed to mold. In the beginning there are feelings of nasopharyngeal – sore throats, hoarseness, stuffy nose, transient hearing loss – or pulmonary – coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath. As the exposure continues, patients suffer headaches, fatigues, rashes, vertigo, muscle and joint pain, fever, and sinus or ear infections.
So when people hear about a multi-million dollar lawsuit they tend to believe it is a gross exaggeration of the victim’s suffering. Well, I have an easy way to determine if it is or not. It comes down to permanent damage. It’s tragic that this boy had to suffer due to a school’s alleged negligence, but if he can fully recover then $8 million is not just compensation.
Kimberly Wilson didn’t realize how serious her mold problem was and certainly didn’t realize it could cause her husband, James Wilson, to fall dead in the hallway of their rental home.
If anything, this study will help us fully understand why mold can cause severe asthma attacks in some but not others. One of the reasons toxic mold remediation is so misunderstood is because it usually does not affect everyone in the same moldy place equally. More emphasis needs to be put on the reasons why some people are more susceptible.
But studies have shown that if you typically come down with what is colloquially called “hay fever” during these allergy seasons then it was likely a condition that developed in childhood. Long-term exposure to allergens, like mold, pollen, and dust cause children to develop an overly-sensitive immune system. This causes an inflammatory reaction when exposed to allergens later on in life.
The school district isn’t springing for a commercial mold remediation company, but taking on the job themselves by vacuuming all surfaces with a HEPA vacuum, wiping all surfaces with an antimicrobial cleaner, and spraying with an antimicrobial disinfectant. They plan on removing moldy tiles and giving that HVAC system a thorough cleaning.
Those without this genotype are easily capable of fighting off toxins that could cause permanent damage to those with the dreaded genotype. I am told you can test to determine if you have this genotype by getting an HLA test.
