The first occurrence of mold in the document is when Galson lists it as a contributor to asthma – along with pests, pet dander, airborne, dust, dust mites, and excess moisture. But even with so many other factors, he still credits mold and dampness to “21% of current asthma cases in the United States, at an annual cost of $3.5 billion.” Too bad Galson neglected to mention that mold has been linked to tripling the asthma rate over the last 20 years. He also could have mentioned the 1999 Mayo Clinic study which found that almost all cases (96%) of chronic sinusitis, affecting 37 million Americans, are caused by mold.
