Jnrdava’s on waterproofing your basement makes a good point. He states:
Wet basements are estimated to occur in over 85% of peoples homes at one point in time. 55% of wet basements are going to occur within the first 3 years of new construction.
This mirrors are experiences that new homes have move water issues that old ones. The rest of his post talks about the issues created by having a wet basement but he forgot to mention mold! Mold is invisible, airborne, and can cause health issues as well as kill pets!
Waterproofing is essential to solving these problems but you should never waterproof a basement without first removing the mold, if you have any. Use an enzyme based product such as TM-100, which is an enzyme that digests mold, will quickly remove the mold and allow you to get waterproofing and solving the water problem as soon as possible.
Make sure you get a lifetime guarantee on the work and that the workers are all certified.
